That's crazy to think given the amount of great players Portugal has produced. Ronaldo? If you class him as a forward? I know he was a winger early in his career.

I loved both Van Hoojdonk and Cadete who played in the same Celtic team. Would have said Cadete was the more clinical forward but Van Hoojdonk the more well rounded player. Cadete had a poorer career post Celtic but he was great for us and Sporting before that.

Van Hoojdonk and Andreas Thom were the 2 signings for Celtic that kind of marked the turnaround of the clubs fortunes in the 1990s. It took a few years for the success to match on the field but symbolically it marked change.

Curiously, another fellow Dutchman, Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink, said in interviews that you guys were interested in buying him, as well as Rangers.

Even Benfica wanted him back in the 90's.

Some player in his prime in England.

We did have venegoor of hesselink in the mid 2000s. Was a really good player for his first couple of years then injuries took a toll on him and he could barely run.

Rangers had Michael mols in the early 2000s who looked a really good player until he tore his acl against bayern then was never the same player.

Vennegoor of Hesselink is one of the coolest names for a player.
