SCULPTOR Walenty Pytel is making four huge steel eagles for top Portugal soccer club Benfica.
The birds — each 147ft from wingtip to wingtip — will be perched on 150ft columns at the corners of the club’s Stadium of Light in Lisbon.
Walenty, 69, from Bromsash, Herefordshire, who specialises in metalwork birds and wildlife, said: “I have waited all my life for such a lovely commission.”
He will be assisted by 20 welders.
One of his biggest previous public works was the 26ft Jubilee fountain in Westminster.
