Midfielder Hugo Leal and Paris Saint-Germain have parted company and speculation regarding the Portuguese international’s future has already begun.
He had been upset with conditions at the club for some time citing lack of first team football as his main reason for wanting out. He also pointed out that when he was used, he was often forced to play out of his natural position (central midfield).
Benfica have been interested in reacquiring him for the last two seasons, and now would be the opportune time to do so because it would not cost them anything.
However, the Lisbon Eagles recently acquired midfielder Everson from Nice and there may be no room in Trapattoni’s squad for their former prodigy.
Hugo Leal was a crowd favorite during his days with Atletico Madrid and the club may be interested in reacquiring him on a free transfer. They sold him to PSG in 2001 for 9 million euros.
