The Italian coach has not reported back for training following the Christmas holidays, without giving any reason.
Giovanni Trapattoni’s adventure in Portugal with Benfica seems to be coming to an end. The former Italian national team coach has in fact missed the first two days of training following the Christmas holidays, something which has infuriated the Portuguese club’s directors.
No word has arrived from Trapattoni on his whereabouts and this led Benfica to issue a statement. “We hope that Trapattoni is back to direct the next training sessions, ahead of next Saturday’s match against Sporting Lisbon.”
The relationship between the Italian coach and the Portuguese side has not been good right from the start, and this incident might be the last straw.
